Abstract

It was only a few years since the strategy of “Country depends on culture” launched by present Kim Dae-Jung to “Korean wave” swept East Asia. South Korea had eradicated the declining tendency brought up by Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 and had stood in line with world cultural great powers, which followed by revival of Korean cultural industry, improvement of national image and obtaining of direct and indirect economic interests. Korean wave, the carrier of Korean Cultural diplomacy, creates a great influence to Chinese culture. As a result, people from public to scholars pay great attention to the phenomena. This paper analyzes the causes and the influence of Korean wave.

This paper includes five parts. The first part is introduction and it introduces the emergency of Korean wave and the role it plays in the Korean economy. The second part is a brief explanation of Korean Wave and an analysis of the reason Korean wave coming into being. The third part is the summary of Korean wave’s several aspects’ developing process in China. The fourth part analyzes the influence of Korean wave and anti-Korean wave in China, including the positive and negative ones. The last part is the conclusion.
